Parenting Resources
Parenting is quite challenging and without a Godly roadmap, parents can have difficulty understanding what is best for their child(ren). LifeSpring Counseling Services has created a parenting program that includes 8 sessions to help parents better understand the stages of parenting as they guide their children into becoming responsible young adults. The sessions focus on the following topics:
- Connecting and building trust
- Healthy touch
- Communication in the parent/child relationship
- Providing structure and setting limits
- Using playfulness in parenting
- Determining appropriate discipline throughout childhood
- Building character in the child
- Releasing to responsibility
These sessions are based on a diagram entitled “Building Blocks of Discipline” created by Dr. William and Martha Sears in their book Parent Project: Tools for Godly Parenting. These sessions are facilitated by the Family Team at Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center.
